From gross to take-home
Your gross salary is never what you take home. First, mandatory SSS (5% employee share), PhilHealth (2.5%) and Pag-IBIG contributions come off — and because these are excluded from taxable income, they also lower your tax.
Then BIR withholding tax applies on the graduated scale, where the first ₱250,000 a year is tax-free. What's left is your net pay.
